Chapter One
Challenger told Veronica and Ned that Finn was happy
and
say "goodbye to V and the ` We're so in love, but won't admit it
couple'" Veronica sighed and told Malone " I wish you had knew her,
she was just like a little sister to me" Malone put Veronica on his
lap and smiled, kissing her on the cheek. "I was so stupid when I
told you I saw you as a friend Ned, I love you, loved you all along,
but realized it when you were gone."
"Veronica you have no idea how long I've waited for that…those
words out of your mouth…to me" Challenger, who saw Veronica as his
daughter smiled and thought of his wife Jessie, to whom he could not
wait to return.
Veronica and Ned looked so much like him and Jessie at the beginning
of their love. "I'm so happy for you two..." then he stopped at the
sound of shouting " ove...arguerite...ways...evrybody.."
The three ran to the balcony and saw Marguerite and Roxton, Roxton
was holding Marguerite in his arms and span her around, laughing. "I love you Marguerite Crux, always..soon to be Lady Marguerite
Roxton and everybody may know it" . He kissed so her passionately
that even that the three people on the balcony turned around and
grinned.
"Oh John..I love you, like I never loved someone, I never let
someone in, you saw right through me and well now that there's going
to be well, euh, you know." " WHAT?" slipped out of three mouths
above them. Roxton and Marguerite looked up shocked "Challenger,Veronica..Malone!!!"
The couple came out of the elevator
kissing and glowing from happiness.
All of them hugged each other and told their stories. " So Finn is
back saved and sound?" Marguerite asked, " yes and she told me that
if you two got another itch that you couldn't scratch..not cover
each other in mud, but that there were other ways" … "what she meant
by that I have no idea" Challenger said to the couple who's cheeks
turned almost purple.
"So ,Neddy Boy, I knew it would work out for you and Veronica, I'm
happy for you two" Roxton commented with his arms around the belly
of Marguerite. Marguerite had to tease and said " well you two took
enough time..and space" she hugged the couple.
Challenger not forgotten the comment earlier and the protectiveness
of Roxton asked "Is there something you wanted to tell us?" "Well
Roxton was almost executed and I almost sacrificed, but he saved me,
my knight in shining armour" "I had to kill." Roxton looked down"
but nobody takes my soul mate away, I found true love here and I
asked Marguerite to marry me"
He smirked " Of course she couldn't refuse me..ouch" Marguerite
slapped him playfully on the arm. " there was another secret and
pleasant surprise..we're pregnant" Marguerite looked down on her
belly where the arms of her lover and soon to be father of her child
lay and nodded to this comment.
"What, when, how" Malone asked… " the how I think you know Neddy
boy" and everybody laughed. Malone turned pink and grinned. " When,
well when you were away Marguerite and I were trapped in a cave and
we finally gave in to each other's feelings, we admitted we loved
each other and well…you know me if I do something I do it very
good!"
"hey Challenger that was the one time you thought you was a
fisherman and everything and your ego..and AHA..no I understand
Finn's comment that you didn't need anybody to rescue you" Veronica
added and Challenger shrugged. "I did miss a lot Malone said to
himself."
"How do you know it happened that time, we…" Marguerite got quiet
when everybody looked amused at her.." Oh you.." and she turned her
head towards Roxton who captured her lips in a kiss. "CONGRATULATIONS" everybody yelled. "Well, well I must say that I
never expected this when I went along with this expedition"
everybody looked at Challenger and thought back those 4 years ago,
what they all experienced together and how they've changed.
The naïve journalist who fell in love with the tough jungle beauty,
the arrogant scientist who turned into the father of the family, the
playboy hunter who fell in love with the most complicated, selfish
woman, the heiress who thought nothing could be more precious than
jewels met her true match and found what she was looking for..love.
No they were engaged and soon to be parents.
They all smiled at each other " I love you all and I knew this would
work out, this is how it was meant to be, from the beginning, that's
why we were chosen for this expedition" a voice as the voice of
Summerlee told them. "Thank you and where you are may you find
peace, we love and miss you Arthur" the group said……. |
